Ramsey Legacy cares about our clients well being and moving is a very stressful time in someone’s life. Moving can be overwhelming as you are moving your entire life but rest assured our staff are trained professionals and will take care of your belongings during the whole process of the move. We have a few suggestions to help during your move to help stress/anxiety leading to the moving day and afterward:
Leading to the move:
-Bad situations. Not everyone is moving because they want to at this point in their life. Understand this is not an end but rather a beginning to a new chapter in their life. Everyone is moving for a reason but the way you look at the situation will be either helpful or hurtful moving forward in your life. Our company has helped thousands of people with “bad situations” change their life around to be positive situations in the long run. Some of our clients are dealing with trauma, financial issues, breakups/divorces, and even stalkers. We are here for you during this time and will do whatever we can to help better your experience during these events. Journalling, writing down your thoughts, and even making a quick list can help tremendously through the process of opening a new chapter in your life.
-Take a break/vacation. Get a fresh outlook on the next chapter in your life with a positive experience beforehand. You work hard and deserve a few days to yourself to focus on self-care. You don’t have to go anywhere in particular but you can take off a few days to take a walk around a park or get some food from your favorite restaurant.
Before the move:
-Plan ahead. Don’t wait till the last minute to prepare your items to be moved. This is the most common issue clients have when it comes to moving their items. Start packing items as soon as you decide to move.
-Take a few days off. Think about taking a few days off before your move and after to get situated in your new home.
-Make a list. Making a simple list each day will help tremendously with the tasks you need to accomplish each day. Make a goal of x amount of boxes to be packed or a goal of materials you need to purchase for your move.
-Donate some items. Want to save money on your move? Look into donating some items you longer need. If you haven’t worn or used an item in a year or two think about donating it to a worthy cause.
-Get the family involved. Are you moving a family? Have everyone pack their own belongings to help with the process. Make a reward for accomplishing individual goals.
-Are you still overwhelmed with packing? We offer packing services if you need professional help. Even just one person helping can mean a world of difference.
During the move:
-Have a list of where everything goes. Having a list or an idea of where everything goes is a great way to be prepared for your move and relieve stress along the way.
-Designate an individual. If you don’t handle stress well designate an individual that is good with telling others what to do. We offer this service as well during a move if you don’t handle stress well to instruct the movers where everything will be placed and take a lot of you the client during the actual moving day.
After the move:
-Still, stressed? Take a few days off to adapt. A few extra days off can mean the world to your mental state after a move. Go for a walk, meditate, and do whatever calms you.
-Take a break/vacation. Get a fresh outlook on the next chapter in your life with a positive experience after your move. You work hard and deserve a few days to yourself focus on self-care. You don’t have to go anywhere in particular but you can take off a few days to talk a walk around a park or get some food from a new restaurant you might enjoy.
-It doesn’t have to be unpacked in one day. Take some time to sort through boxes from your move. Focus on the boxes that you need currently and unpack a little each day when you are bored or have time.
-Ask a friend. I’m sure you have helped a friend in the past with a move, maybe they would be willing to help you for a few hours?
-Are you still overwhelmed with unpacking? We offer unpacking services if you need professional help. Even just one person helping can mean a world of difference.
